Sample Filters

In this article we will go through different examples of how to use filters, so that you can easily apply it in your own business, provided you have the same membership data. 

After reading this guide, you will have the following knowledge: 

To start with, it may be useful to know what the following are:

Step 1 

  1. Click on "New filter"
  2. Name your "Filter"
  3. Describe what your filter will do
  4. Choose which tag(s) to include
  5. Save

Step 2

Filter events between different dates

In this filter we collect the customers who have placed an order between the current dates, 2023-02-13 - 2023-02-28 as shown in the example below. Once the filter is created, you can add it to your campaign, automation or journey. 

Do step 1 first, located above in the document.

  1. Here you want to make sure it says "Match All"
  2. In the first field select "Date", in the middle field "is greater than or equal to", and in the last field select the start date of this segment.
  3. Then you want to add a "New rule"
  4. In the first field, select "Date" again, in the middle field "is less than or equal to", and then select your end date.
  5. Then click on "save rules"

Filter on activity

With activity means when any customer/member either opened or clicked in a campaign. The filter captures customers with activity from 365 days and back. It is then dynamically controlled after +365 days of inactivity per respective customer. Once the filter is created, you can add it to your campaign, automation or journey. 

Do step 1 first, located above in the document.

  1. Here you want to make sure it says "Match All"
  2. In the first field select "Activity", in the middle field "at least days ago", in the last field enter the number of days 
  3. Remember to save the rule

Filter by language

Here we go through if you want to segment your members if you are, for example, a company that is international and needs to send out communications in different languages. In this example, we filtered on Swedish-speaking customers. Once the filter is created, you can add it to your campaign, automation or journey. 

Do step 1 first, located above in the document.

  1. Make sure that "Match all" is filled in.
  2. In the first field, select "Language" as this is what we will filter on. In the middle field, select "Is similar to". In the last field, choose the language you want to sort out, in this case we chose Swedish.
  3. When you have filled in all the fields, click on "Save rules"

Filter by opened/clicked Campaign, Automation and Journey

By creating filters based on the members ' activities, you can personalize mailings according to their opening will or the type of links they have clicked on. It improves the possibilities of segmentation and is the basis for more efficient mailings and well-targeted messages. 

Do step 1 first, located above in the document.

  1. Make sure that "Match all" is filled in.
  2. In the first rule we show how to filter "Promotions". In the next field, select which campaign you want to filter on. Then you select the rule if the member has or has not "opened" or "not opened" the mail, to select in the last field the number of days.
  3. You do the same in "Automations", but there you choose which flow and not individual emails.
  4. In the "Journey Builder", select the Journey you want to filter on, and then fill in the same way as before

Filter by number of orders

In this example we will show how to segment out the members who have made at least two more words on your e-commerce. If you want to set up this filter, you can of course choose the number of words to any number you want. Once the filter is created you can add it to your campaign, automation or journey. 

  1. Create a new filter
  2. Name the filter, for clarity we wrote 2 words because that's what we want to filter out.
  3. Describe what this filter will do
  4. Then what the filter should be based on, in this case "OrderCompleted"
  5. Save

After you have saved you will be able to see further down on the right hand side "Include historical data", click in it.

  1. When you have included your historical data, you will see that it now says "exclude historical data", then you have done the right thing.
  2. And when it is clicked, three new buttons appear, "Number", "New total" and "New reg", click in "Number"
  3. In the first field you select "OrderNumber", in the middle field "equals", and in the last field you select the number of words you want to segment on, which in this case is 2.
  4. Remember to save the filter

Filter by Amount limit

In this example we will show how to segment out the members who made more orders that are over 500kr. If you want to set up this filter, you can of course choose the amount yourself to any figure you want. Once the filter is created you can add it to your campaign, automation or journey. 

  1. Create a new filter
  2. Name the filter
  3. Describe what this filter will do
  4. Determine what this filter should be based on, in this case "OrderCompleted" 

After you have saved you will be able to see further down on the right hand side "Include historical data", click in it.

  1. When you have included your historical data, you will see that it now says "exclude historical data", then you have done the right thing.
  2. And when it is clicked, three new buttons appear, "Number", "New total" and "New reg", click in "New total"
  3. In the first field select "Subtotal order", in the middle field "is greater than or equal to", and finally select the amount, in this case 500kr. 
  4. Remember to save
